THE Zifa Chipinge/Chimanimani Division Two league is slowly reaching its climax with top teams battling it out for a ticket to partake in the playoffs that could earn them a ticket to compete in the Eastern Region Division One.

Zifa Eastern Region administration separated teams based on their locations. Those in the northern parts of the region were affiliated to Mutare-Nyanga Division Two B League, while those in the southern parts were affiliated to Chipinge/Chimanimani Division Two A League.

League matches in the northern region were suspended owing to financial constraints.

Playoffs involving top two teams from the two leagues will then be staged next month to determine the winning team that will join the more competitive Zifa Eastern Region Division One League.

Currently, log leaders, New Year’s Gift are sitting on the summit of the log table with 20 points, while Chipinge Banana weigh in second position with 16 points although the later has a game in hand.

Tea growers of Zona are sitting on third place with 15 points, with a game in hand as well.

Charter, Smalldell and Winchester are the other teams in the six-team league.

Zifa Chipinge/Chimanimani Division Two League chairperson, Innocent Mlilo, expressed satisfaction with the progress that the league has made.

Mlilo confirmed that the league will also have an end of season tournament for teams in the league as well as other clubs that could join the league next season.

“We are happy with the level of competition that we have although we would have loved to have more numbers. However, we are confident that we will certainly have more teams coming in for next season.

“We will have an end of season tournament for the teams in the league as well as other clubs that could join the league next season. We have also set up a serious social soccer league that is aimed at preparing clubs wish to take the initiative seriously and join a competitive league,” he said.

Mlilo heartily thanked Chipinge Ward Six councillor, Irimayi Muzamana, for the support he rendered to the Zifa Chipinge/Chimanimani Division Two League.
