FOR duping his unsuspecting client, a debt collector was last week sentenced to 30 days in prison by a Mutare court.
Edward Chirwa (47), a debt collector and Commissioner of Oaths stationed at Meikles Park in the Central Business District was convicted on his own guilty plea when he appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mr Innocent Bepura.
Prosecuting was Mr Fletcher Karombe.
Mr Bepura, however, suspended the 30-day jail term on condition that Chirwa restitutes the complainant her $50 by April 30.
This was after he had warned him against stealing from clients who would have trusted him with their hard-earned money.
