Corpse found floating in Chipinge dam

IN a suspected murder case, a yet to be identified dead body of a male adult was found floating in Smaldale Dam at Tanganda’s Jersey Tea Estate recently.

Chipinge District police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Blessing Kadzuraumera, confirmed the discovery of the corpse in Smaldale Dam and said investigations were in progress. However, sources in the police homicide department, said the still to be identified body was seen floating in the dam by a fisherman.

“Yes, police are investigating the case. When police attended the scene and retrieved the body, they discovered that it was tied with a rope on a big stone weighing 23kgs. The rope was tied around the waist.

“The body was already in an advanced stage of decomposition. Anyone with a missing relative should visit Chipinge District Mortuary to help in identifying the body.

“The person is a male person between the age of 30 and 40 years,” said the source.
