Christ : The anointing in you!

Pastor Ocean Hamandishe—

IT is amazing how fear grips people even those who profess to be believers and followers of Christ. The fear of unknown, death, misfortunes, sickness, demon attacks and so on has caused some who are called Christians to ignore Christ who resides inside of them and seek protection in various materials, objects, oils and liquids.

All is done in the name of Anointing. Some church denominations advertise different anointing such as, the anointed water, anointed sewage, anointed belt, anointed salt, anointed pens, anointed cloth, anointed potatoes, anointed vegetables and fruits, the list can go on.

Christians need someone to remind them that the anointing they are seeking is actually residing in them.

The Bible says: “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.

The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me”. Gal 2:20-21 NIV. Allow me to take part of this portion of scripture (“but Christ lives in me”) to qualify my point. We can learn some truth from this portion of scripture.

According to Apostle Paul, he is saying Christ lives in him, He dwells inside him. In other words Jesus Christ took residence in him. Think about how powerful Christ is, living in-side you with all his power and anointing. If one knows the person of Christ, he /she do not need to add other things to protect his or her life. A believer lives by faith in Christ not in objects and substances.

The word Christ comes from the Greek version of the Old Testament, the Septuagint. It is translated from the Hebrew verb mashakh,” meaning to anoint” . Mashiakh,”an anointed one”, from which the English word “Messiah” is derived. It is also taken from Greek word Khristos, meaning ‘anointed”.

Therefore Christ means the Anointed one with the anointing. My concern is about those who are looking for another “outside” anointing.

It seems the anointing they seek is not in Christ; it is somehow packaged in certain materials, objects or some sort of substance or liquid which they move around with in order for them to feel protected or to have luck.

Borrowing  from Colossians 1:27  which says : “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory, we can see that Christ`s residence is in you. The scripture says “Christ in you“the hope of Glory. In other words the scripture is saying “the Anointed one is in you – the hope of glory”. Based on this spiritual truth that Christ is in you, I therefore believe his anointing can resides in every believer. Believers are called Christians. From the word “Christ” we get “Christ-ians”   this means that believers are “the anointed ones of Christ”.

One who receives Christ is accepting the anointing to reside in him/her. Here, I am not talking about different kinds of anointing that comes through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Get me right I understand anointing, I am aware of different levels of anointing and I respect the anointed men of God.

However, I am discussing about the anointing that protects a believer by virtue of accepting Christ. If your faith is in those objects then where is Christ? This helps us to understand that putting your faith in different objects, material and substance is removing Christ and his power from your life.

1 John 2:27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit — just as it has taught you, remain in him. NIV

The above scripture also presents a position that the anointing which believer receives remains in him. It works inside – out; it works from within and affects things outside you. They are not things that are “supposedly carry the anointing” that should help you.

Christ in you is enough to feel secure in your faith. The hope of a believer should not be in any other thing other than Christ himself.

We have teachers of the word of God; nevertheless believers should allow the anointing of Christ who manifests through the power of the Holy Spirit to teach them.

The Holy Spirit teaches you things pertaining faith in Christ and to mature in understanding his power.

If today `s generation understands that each believer is the temple of the Anointing, the temple of the Anointed (Christ) and the temple of the Holy Spirit, People would not seek  any other security apart from Christ. Christ is enough to make their lives secure.

The Holy Spirit in a believer is the source of all the anointing.1 Cor 3:16 (NIV) Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?  One should completely depend upon Christ alone.

Christ in you the Hope of Glory!! Christ, the anointed with his anointing is in you! Those who lead people should lead members to Christ as the source of power and anointing not objects, liquids, and materials. No matter how big the revelation one receives, if that revelation removes Christ as the object of worship and the source of power and replaces him with other objects then that anointing is questionable. Let the word of God be our standard to measure things.

I have concluded that those who are putting their faith in things such as object, materials, substance and liquids etc, are removing Christ and his anointing. Thus creating small gods that one would not want to live without and throw away the real God.
