Chipfumo dates Mutare fans

TALENTED yet underrated musician, Progress “Mangerengere” Chipfumo is back again in Mutare for yet another date with local fans when he performs at Club Mandisa tomorrow (Saturday).

After putting up a scintillating show at the same venue late last month, the dreadlocked musician whose music has always remained unique yet soulful has promised his fans a polished act. He is going to play all eight tracks to be contained on his forthcoming album titled Dai ndaiziva. He finished recording the album early this month and it is due to hit the streets early next month.

The lyrically gifted artiste has featured on several musicians’ songs such as Leonard Zhakata’s award-winning chartbuster Madam Boss, which also features heir to the Dendera throne, Suluman Chimbetu. He also features on contemporary jazz Jah Prayzah’s fine track, Yambuka rukova off the latter’s album Tsviriyo.

“I feel more confident to play in Mutare particularly at Mandisa because of the rapturous response they gave me the last time I performed there. I even left the new audience clamouring for more and that was so encouraging. My camp is ready for the gig. This time I am going to play all tracks contained on my forthcoming album. I know my fans will not be disappointed. I have great things in store for everyone who will attend the show. We will also blend the new tracks with the old ones,” said the Mangerengere hit-maker.

Some of Chipfumo’s danceable tunes include Mai Makanaka, Garwe, Kuraper Mwana and Ngwena. His albums include “Tsiurika, Ndinovatenda Nei?”, “Let Them Know and Hold My Hand”.

Show organiser, Boniface Nyamanhindi said it was all systems go.

“We are beginning the year on a high note with venerated artistes such as Chipfumo. We would like to let our fans know that Peter “Dhewa” Moyo will headline next weekend’s gig. Moyo will serenade fun lovers on Saturday. We are also set to bring other artistes across genres as we intend to please all our esteemed, supportive and loyal patrons. Bev will also grace our joint early next month,” said Nyamanhindi.

Bev recently caught the headlines after she made stunning revelations that she was carrying Andy Muridzo’s pregnancy threatening to expose him if ever he refuses responsibility. This, however, is expected not to hold back her usual sexually-arousing stage antics which usually leave male patrons drooling.

Resident dance group, Mandisa Queens and Kings and pole dancers from Harare will perform as supporting acts.
