CHIMANIMANI-BASED gospel musician Joseph Maposa has released a DVD for his debut seven-track album, “Mene Mene Volume 1”.

Shot in Chimanimani, the new DVD was produced by Olin Anderson of Kunashe Studios in Mutare. It is riding high with songs such as “Mene Mene (Reggae Hit)” receiving a lot of airplay on different radio stations over the past year.

The track “Mene Mene” talks about the effects of having too much pride as it does not guarantee anyone the kingdom of heaven after death. The rest of the songs include “Vana Vangu”, “Zvenharo” and “Emmanuel Ndichengetewo”.

Maposa collaborated with Godwill Mafake to do the other three songs, Nehemiah, Ndapfugama and Makaiteiko. Like any other upcoming artistes, Maphosa laments lack of resources.

“Lack of adequate finances stopped me from shooting this DVD way back as it was costly, but at last I made it with my team. We believe we are growing with each passing year as most of our songs are receiving fair airplay which is good for the development of the group.

“We are making efforts for this DVD to be available all over Zimbabwe and beyond. We are appealing to all our fans to support us until we set Africa ablaze,” said Maposa.

“We have started working on the DVD for ‘Mene Mene Volume 2’ which shall be carrying 10 tracks.

“Resources permitting, we will release this DVD early next year,” added the Apostolic Faith Mission churchgoer. He said he was hopeful that people would enjoy and support the DVD album.

Maposa was born in Semba under Chief Marange’s area. He did his primary education at Mabvengwa Primary School, O-Levels at Masasi Secondary School and A-Level at Mweyamutsvene High School.

His music career kicked off at a tender age when he started imitating other artistes’ songs. He was an active singer during crusades and Apostolic Faith Mission church conferences.

He later began to write his own songs in 2003 when he teamed up with Godwill Mafake, Charles Mhuriyengwe, Patrick Njikizana and John Chidavaenzi to form the Chariots of Fire Band.
