CENTRE for Teaching and Learning Research (CTLR) seeks to promote research culture through teaching research methods to students, individuals, professionals and organisations.

Our main aim is to promote research culture so that all active individuals, students, professionals and organisations can use research to make more informed decisions as well as solving their problems. We believe that research has the capacity to produce better results for individuals, communities and organizations. Indeed, nations prosper through research.

We provide online and face-to-face research methods and statistics lessons to all those who need our services. Our instructional approach is based on scaffolding to make teaching and learning of research and statistics simple and enjoyable.

We teach secondary school students to understand basic research methods to enable them to do research projects which are required in new school curriculum. In fact, research projects are not new in schools. For example, “A” Geography students have been doing research projects in the past 30 years as part of their examination requirements.

However, research projects in other subjects are new so CTLR is there to assist secondary school students to do their research projects in line with the new curriculum. We also teach teachers to teach their students to do better research projects. Of course, our focus is on students not teachers.

We also coach parents and their pupils to improve Grade Seven examination results. We have noted that many parents leave most of the work to teachers. However, given the demands of Grade Seven examinations, parents must be actively involved in the learning of their children at home. Using experience of other parents and Grade Seven learners who obtained five units in the last Grade Seven examination, CTLR is ready to coach parents to work with their children to enhance their academic performance.

For university students, we teach research methods and statistics up to PhD level. We also coach dissertation writing skills for all levels. Additionally, we teach professionals to use research to make informed decisions and policies.
