ZIMBABWE Football Association is set to implement strict standardisation for all local football coaches that requires them to have a well detailed training plan.

Speaking on the sidelines of a Level One course at Chancellor Primary School on Tuesday, ZIFA technical director Wilson Mutekede said from next year they would be moving around the country monitoring every coach. He also added that an official communication would be made to all clubs to enforce the new requirements.

“We have lined up a number of programmes from next year. One of them includes monitoring all our coaches if they have proper training plans. Because of standardisation, we need all coaches to be organised.

Most of them are not serious when it comes to planning. We will also see those coaches that are only attending trainings and not practicing. There will be no development in our country as long as we have coaches who are idle. It will also be used as a measure for coaches to be able to go to the next level,” he said.

Mutekede said there was need to develop local coaches in the province.

“Manicaland has talented players. The main problem with Manicaland is that most coaches do not want to learn. As long as we have less qualified coaches in the province, there will not be any development in football.

“Teams will have to hire coaches from outside, and it is not healthy for the development of sports in the province,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Level Two course which started last week at Mutare Boys’ High School ended on Tuesday, with 25 people participating. Level One is currently underway at Chancellor Primary School with a total of 17 participants.

Some of the notable players who are attending include Mutare City Rovers player, Victor Twaliki, Buffaloes’ Kevin Thembani, Sheckon Stars coach, Allen Gwangwara and Brian Chitakatira from Tenax FC. The course is being conducted by Sammy Mavhenyengwa and it is expected to end tomorrow (Friday).
