IT seems calling CAFF an upcoming artiste will not do him any justice as judging by his latest project, the artiste has proven to be worth rubbing shoulders with the country’s greatest.

Lionel Matanda, better known by his stage name CAFF, has redone and created a beautiful cover of the late legendary, Simon Chimbetu’s “Mudzimai Wangu” song which he dropped together with the video on Monday. Titled “Ndiwe”, the four minute, five  seconds long track was produced by DJ Nice and Nigerian outfit, Hottice Exclusive.

The salivating visuals which have a rural background setting were shot in Vumba and were directed by Mutare’s own, Zorodzai Chibuwe of Fokus Media.  It also has a strange nostalgic feel as the moment one sees CAFF shooting birds in the video, one’s memories of when they last visited the village will come back to them in flashes.

Shot around the crack of dawn in the mountainous province and above the stunning waters of Vumba, the video seems to be selling the beauty of the Eastern Highlands to the outside world and is sure to lure tourists into the country. Birds can be heard on the background tweeting and making musical sounds as the video begins. It seems he only covers Chimbetu’s lyrics on the chorus as on the rest of the song, CAFF penned down his own enticing love lyrics which, however, will still get you singing along and dancing.

“I did not recreate the song, I just added a little bit of Afro-pop flavour. No one can recreate works of the legendary Chimbetu. We can only add flavour to them. To suit the modern day Afro-pop lovers is the reason why I decided to work on this project. I penned my own lyrics and took Chimbetu’s chorus as the icing on the cake, to create ‘Ndiwe’,” said CAFF.
