MUSICIAN Lionel ‘‘Caff’’ Matanda, who took a sabbatical after the death of his wife last year, is rising from the dust like phoenix and set to drop a new album before the end of this year.

Caff took a back seat after his wife Oreen Sheila Phiri, committed suicide in October last year, but has returned with a bang.

The ‘‘Perfect to me’’ hit-maker made his first high-profile gig since the tragedy at National Aids Council provincial gala held at Chisamba Grounds, Sakubva, last Friday. Caff put up a top drawer performance. He will tomorrow (Saturday) perform at the official opening of a leisure centre The Liquor Tap in Chigodora.

Caff said: “It has been quite a difficult moment. The wound will never heal, but God will see me through. I am working on a new album with DJ Oskid, which I believe will be out by end of this year. I was overwhelmed by the response I received from my fans in Sakubva and I am looking forward to a great performance in Chigodora”.

The Liquor Tap’s manager Weston Mwaziyeni confirmed the show.

“We have decided to open the venue in style by bringing one of Mutare’s finest talents. The joint will in the near future bring other established artistes across all genres,” said Mwaziyeni.
