THE owner of Samboy Investments, popular businessman, Samuel Sithole, was recently fined by a Mutare Court for possessing hazardous fuel in plastic containers.
Samuel Sithole (46) was ordered to pay $200 fine after he was convicted by Mutare magistrate, Mr Poterai Gwezhira.
This was after Sithole had pleaded guilty to the offence of being found in possession of fuel placed in plastic containers.
He contravened Section 17(1)(a) as read with Statutory Instrument 12 of 2007 of the Environmental Management(Hazardous pesticides and other toxic substances)
Representing the State was Mr Fletcher Karombe. Sithole was ordered to pay $200 fine or risks 40 days imprisonment.
Allegations were that on November 23, police detectives including Detective Sergeants Chivuro, Makochera and Chimudzi were on patrol in Sakubva area when they received a tip-off that Sithole was in possession of fuel stored in plastic containers at his workplace along Matura Road in Green Market, Sakubva.
The detectives visited the place and discovered that there were 28x 20 litres of diesel placed in plastic containers.
