A CHIPINGE businesswoman who runs some shops in the farming town dragged her husband to the Civil Court claiming money for the upkeep of their two children.Tandiwe Ngorima dragged her husband, Bezel Ngorima, who is a teacher to court praying for $500 per month for the upkeep of their two children.

Magistrate, Mrs Sharon Chipanga presided over the matter.

In his submission, Tandiwe who claims in court to be a sibling of a well known Chipinge businessman, Mr Dunmore ‘Dzonzayi’ Hlerema, said she was responsible for almost everything which includes food, school fees and clothes for the children among other basic needs. She said her brother, Hlerema would chip in here and there.

She said: “Your Worship, the respondent is not contributing anything towards the upkeep of the family and I do not know how he uses his money. I need $500 for the upkeep of the children.’’

Asked by Mrs Chipanga why he was neglecting his family, Ngorima said: “Your Worship, I am surprised to hear such strange utterances from her. I am contributing as much as I can to my family. I cannot afford the money she is claiming because I am servicing a loan that I obtained from the bank which I used to pay for the children’s fees and other requirements. Currently, I am earning $110 per month and from this amount that is where we get food and other necessities,’’ said Ngorima.

In her ruling, Mrs Chipanga ordered Ngorima to pay $40 per month as maintenance with effect from November 30 this year and the applicant will apply for upwards variation when the respondent is done with servicing the debts he accrued.
