Development organisations have expressed concern over the emergence of bush boarding facilities in Chimanimani exposing school girls to early sexual relations with older men during their stay away from parents.
Access to secondary education is considered to be a major challenge for most learners, who are forced to walk long distances.
In some desperate cases, they are forced to resort to bush boarding facilities near schools.
Speaking at the Fourth Quarter Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health (ASRH) Forum held by the Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council (ZNFPC), a representative from the Young People’s Network, Trust Chinawa said over 300 school children were living without any form of parental supervision exposing them to risky behaviours as they tried to make ends meet.
