FOR aspiring gospel singer Edmore Maunga, a fleeting association with the genre’s supremo Blessing Shumba has had profound effect on him that he yearns to get far with the musical journey he has just set out on.

Shumba, the award-winning Kurwa Kwakanaka hit-maker, briefly took Maunga under his wings for tours and performances during which the latter was nurtured as he took a toddler’s steps to establishing his own career. For that opportunity of mentorship under the patronage of Shumba, the budding Maunga is eternally grateful as he is now living the fulfillment of his dream following the successful release of his debut album titled Jehovah Anotida.

“This album took a while coming, two years to be precise, and I am excited about the prospects of its success. Blessing Shumba had a hand in shaping my career as he allowed us to learn some of the basics and details of this business from him.

“As I venture into ministering through music, my desire is to get the music make a huge difference and have positive influence on people’s lives so that they give their lives to Jesus Christ. Since I am a junior pastor with my church, this is just another broader way of spreading the Gospel and reach out to a larger audience away from the pulpit since music is a powerful medium that also speaks to the inner being,” said Maunga, who fellowships with Nyasha Faith Ministries.

Jehovah Anotida carries seven tracks and an additional instrumental. Ndiani Angandibatsira, My Prayer, Baba Wedu, Ane Rudo Mwari, Mweya Wangu, Zvenyasha and Mwari Wangu, which are all largely self-suggestive, are the songs that comprise the album.

While some of the tracks were spontaneously composed as did some borrow from the Bible and real life experiences, the compilation’s overall outlook is to have believers remain steadfast in God in spite of the tribulations life hurls at them for he is always faithful, has unfailing love and answers prayers. Olin Anderson of Kunashe Studios was the hand behind the production of the album, which also features the vocal prowess of Ellen Anderson.

“I would like to thank my father Bishop Maunga, Pastor Nebarwe, Pastors J and E Anderson, Pastor Hamandishe, my producer and my wife and best friend Irene as well as everyone else behind the scenes for the overwhelming support they rendered in the making of Jehovah Anotida,” said Maunga.
