Budding Chipinge artiste releases album Broken Mukapi

A CHIPINGE upcoming artiste who draws inspiration from dancehall artistes like Charlie Black, Tocky Vibes and Terminator has released a nine-track album, ‘‘Zvairema’’.

Broken Mukapi (18) is a Form Four pupil at Gaza High School in Chipinge. In an interview from his Chipinge base, Mukapi said his album was based on social lives of people living in the ghetto. He added that his themes were derived from social settings.

“I live in the ghetto and that is where I draw my music themes from. I sing about day to day life in the ghetto. So far I have written 12 songs. This is my debut album and I am hoping that it will do well on the market,” he said.

Songs to look out for on the album include the title track, ‘‘Zvairema’’, ‘‘Ndochemera Rugare’’, ‘‘Ndatumira Munamato’’, ‘‘Chinono’’ and ‘‘Ndoita Madiro’’ among others. The songs are also featured on his DVD album. He started his music journey in 2015 while doing Form Two student, but his dream became reality when he finally decided to release his album in June.

His debut album was recorded at Dark Sounds, Chillspot and Rare Music studios in Harare. He started his dream in 2015 when he was just a form two The album will be followed by a DVD album containing six tracks. He is working under the management of Trevor Mukondiwa.

Tracks on the DVD include ‘‘Zvairema’’, ‘‘Kutumira Munamato’’, ‘‘Ndochemera rugare’’, ‘‘Chinono’’, ‘‘Watch out’’, ‘‘Vanofamba neni . This tracks on the album, are more of exploiting the social life in the environment people are living in, the plight people are facing on their day to day lives”, he said.
