ZANU-PF Manicaland Women’s League’s poultry projects received a major boost after the party’s national secretary for Women’s League and First Lady, Dr Amai Grace Mugabe donated 1 000 chicks last Friday.

The chicks will be distributed to the party’s eight districts. Each district got 125 chicks.
“We are delighted. We would like to thank Dr Mugabe for the kind gesture. These income-generating projects will assist us to fend for our families instead of depending on handouts. She always preaches about self-sustenance and I am glad that she has led by example. We will today buy stock feeds and make sure that the projects will continue growing and benefit more people,” said Zanu-PF Manicaland provincial chairlady, Cde Esteri Muyambo.
She said women in the party were hardworking and innovative.
“Each constituency will get an equal share. Dr Amai Mugabe pledged the chicks in December last year soon after the Zanu-PF 16th National People’s Conference held in Masvingo. Dr Amai Mugabe always supports us in our self-sustenance initiatives,” she added.
Women interviewed said the kind gesture was a great motivation.
“We would like to thank Dr Amai Mugabe for the love she always gives us. I am into poultry and this is a big boost. At least with such projects I can be able to fend for my children,” she added.
Poultry, bee keeping, piggery, knitting among other things are some of the income-generating projects Zanu-PF women in the province have embarked on.
