GOSPEL ace, Blessing Shumba has finished working on his forthcoming album titled Holy Psalms Volume Three due to be released this Easter, The Weekender can reveal.

His producer, the versatile Olin Anderson, this week finished the mixing and mastering of almost all songs and the project, which will be his sixth, is expected to carry 12 songs. Shumba’s headache usually arises when it comes to christening the album as well as picking the final songs to feature on the project since he has a stockpile of unreleased songs.

He composes a song when he feels like or when the Holy Spirit directs him to. He has more than 56 unreleased songs and most of them feature his wife, Pauline who is also a talented musician.

The qualified electrician revealed in an interview that he was compelled to release the album this Easter since most of the songs likely to be carried on the album carry messages of the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

“If time allows I might release the album next week because most of the songs are inspired by Easter, which is the foundation of the Christian Faith. The album is likely to contain a maximum number of 12 songs with the least being 10. We are working flat out to release the album soon and make sure every gospel music lover reaches it during the Easter period.

My initial plan was to release the album later this year but I am bowing down to pressure from my fans who are desperately in need of new music,” said Shumba, who now prefers to call himself, Holy Psalms.

For the sake of his fans, whom he adorably value, it is highly likely that he will release two albums this year since he has prepared music which only needs mastering. And as unpredictable as he is, Shumba might compose, record and release a song, a few days before the album hits the streets, just like last year. The song, Faith Moves Mountains contained on his last album Holy Psalms Volume Two, was recorded exactly a week before it was released just for one reason.

“I composed the song (Move Mountains) after experiencing a plethora of challenges in a bid to have a successful launch. A lot of challenges hampered the smooth flow of the preparations. We should always believe in God and pray fervently,” The Weekender quoted him last year prior to the album launch at Golden Peacock Villa Hotel.

His last album was well-received across the gospel music fraternity although there is room for improvement as far as marketing is concerned. Shumba’s camp should work on doing promotional shows especially after unveiling a project.
