A CHIKANGA man was last weekend given a thorough hiding by an angry mob in the sprawling high-density suburb after he was caught cuddling a married woman. The cheating couple was caught by the suspecting husband who came home earlier than normal coming out of the woman’s matrimonial house at House Number 733, Chikanga Phase One at around 1 pm. That was possibly after a sexual session since according to neighbours privy to the illicit affair, the couple were lovers for quite some time.
The woman, identified as Mai Tanya, was believed to be around 19 years old. Her boyfriend was reportedly a security guard in Phase Two.
Mai Tanya escaped from the angry mob, while her unlucky boyfriend, who was semi-naked, could not run away from the jaws of an enraged Baba Tanya and other residents, who held him tightly.
Efforts to contact the involved parties proved fruitless by the time of going to Press.
When The Weekender arrived at the couple’s house on Monday, Mai Tanya had reportedly vanished after the skirmishes and never returned home.
According to neighbours who requested anonymity, Mai Tanya reportedly lied to her boyfriend that she was not married.
On the day in question, some picture frames, shoes and other things belonging to her husband were allegedly hidden under the bed to make her boyfriend believe that indeed she was single.
“It was long overdue. They were in love and it was a public secret. Her husband usually came back home late, but that day he came early.
“He was given a tip-off by a maid at the house.
“She always lied that she was single,” said a neighbour.
An elderly neighbour described the real life drama as signs of early marriages.
“Youths should not rush into marriages, but should instead take their time, enjoy life and find adequate time to choose the right partner. Mai Tanya is below 20, she has one child but was already engaging in extra-marital affairs.
“That is unacceptable. Marriage is an institution that requires commitment and mutual respect. Mai Tanya has been in love with her boyfriend for quite some time,” she said.
