Atletico Madrid are preparing to make their move for Diego Costa as the clock ticks down to Chelsea’s first day of pre-season training. Antonio Conte’s squad are due back at their Surrey training centre on Monday including Costa unless he is close to a move. The Brazil-born Spain international has made it clear he will only consider a move back to his former club Atletico Madrid.
Reports in Spain on Wednesday night suggested a deal might be close but no fee had been agreed and the clubs have been a long way apart on the valuation of the player since the preliminary stage of talks. Atletico have been unwilling to pay more than £20million for a 28-year-old player with two years on his £150,000-a-year contract .- Daily Mail.
