LONG-STANDING Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed he has made a decision on his future, and that he will announce his choice ‘very soon’.

The Frenchman’s comments come after Arsenal fell to their seventh Premier League defeat of the season, losing 3-1 at West Brom. Wenger was subject to yet more scrutiny at the Hawthorns, with many of the 3,000 travelling Arsenal fans calling for him to be sacked after over 20 years in the role.

A light aircraft, equipped with the message ‘no contract. Wenger out’, flew over the west-midlands during the early parts of the defeat, but this was later trumped by yet another light aircraft displaying the message ‘In Arsene We Trust. RespectAW’.

The somewhat bizarre events had no bearing on the game, as West Brom ended up comfortably beating the Gunners, with Craig Dawson capitalising on Arsenal’s weak defending from corners to score twice as Hal Robson-Kanu got the other.

“I know what I will do in my future. You will soon know, very soon,” Wenger said after the game, as quoted by Yahoo Sports.

“We do not necessarily worry about that. We are in a unique bad patch that we have not had for 20 years and that is more important for my future.”

Arsenal are now five points behind fourth-placed Liverpool and a staggering 17 points off league-leaders Chelsea, and Wenger admits his side’s form is ‘worrying’.

“We all take responsibility. It’s obviously a big disappointment when you lose a game like that. We all have to take responsibility and prepare for our next games,” Wenger said in an interview with Sky Sports.

“It’s very worrying because we are not used to that (four defeats in five) and overall we have a hell of a task now to fight back.

“We need to regroup and of course focus on the games coming up because there are many big games. Everybody goes away now [for the international break] and we have to recover and prepare for our end of season.

“We focus on analysing where we are not good at the moment and correct what didn’t work.” – Online
