EASTERN Region Division One log leaders, Buffaloes, will lock horns with perennial nemesis, Tenax in a derby slated for Sakubva Stadium on Sunday.

The match starts at 3pm. The 2017 league is promising another reverting race for the title with top four teams – Buffaloes, Mutare City Rovers, Africa Trust and Mukanya B – separated by a point. Although they are in fourth position, Mukanya B have the chance to jump to the summit of the log standings if they win their game in hand.

However, Sunday’s potentially explosive league encounter evokes memories of the last day of the 2016 Eastern Region Division One season when against all expectations, Tenax stood firm to deny Buffaloes Premiership promotion at the same venue. The relationship between the two uniformed forces teams thawed following that match and violence was witnessed soon after match officials blew the whistle to end the match.

Apparently that was not the first time that Tenax have appeared to be promoting Fair Play by raising their game each time they face a Premiership promotion bound Mutare outfit.

Tenax are in eighth position with nine points to show for the six matches they have played so far this season.
