MUTARE born player Anelka Chivandire is hoping he will be smiling at the end of the day this Sunday when his Triangle FC square off with struggling Mutare City Rovers at Vengere.

Mutare City Rovers will host the ‘Sugar Sugar’ boys at Vengere in their week 14 fixture.

The match will kick off at 3pm.

Anelka who was born and bred in Mutare returns to Mutare, a city where he made a name for himself in the junior and division one leagues.

He is a product of Timothy Sicho Masachi’s La Sakubva .He joined the junior club in 2007 and he played for three seasons before moving to Watsomba where he joined the now defunct The Africa Trust. Chivandire had also been linked with a move to newly formed division one outfit Manica Diamond FC. He snubbed the Gem Boys and joined Triangle FC.

He said he is so excited to return to Mutare. “I am very happy to be back home. This is where I was born and my soccer career started here in Mutare. I joined The Africa Trust in 2015. I had an opportunity to play for Manica Diamonds FC but I felt Triangle was a better environment as I still want to further my education,” he said. He said the pressure will be on Mutare City Rovers as the home crowd will be expecting nothing short of victory.

“Obviously we have to win. Rovers are under pressure and we can be party poopers. We hope to go out and play our best on Sunday and win the match. “Of course we are also under pressure after the defeat last weekend but it is different from City Rovers, the fans want the team to win at home so they will be under pressure,” he said. Triangle FC coach Taurai Mangwiro was in full praise of the youngster.

“Anelka is full of potential and he is doing very well. He is on the right track. He lost some ground when he got injured but he is much better now. I foresee a bright future,” said Mangwiro.
