ESTEEMED followers of the game of football, thank you for finding time for interaction.  The rugged terrain that our Castle Lager Premier Soccer League championship landscape is has just become a potentially banana skin that some, among the leading contenders, may find to be a slippery slope when the league marathon finally concludes.

Dynamos, Ngezi Platinum Stars, FC Platinum and Chicken Inn are all in the running for the title, but at the end of the race only one winner shall be crowned. All four, therefore, still have everything to play and fight for.

Interestingly, only five points separate table-topping DeMbare (56) and fourth-placed Gamecocks (51), while the two platinum miners are tied on points (53) in second and third positions.

With seven rounds of matches left to play – three home and four away for each of the pacesetters – it means over only two fixtures the log standings may assume a different complexion owing to results posted.

Throw into the mix that every team in the current Fop Four still have to play at least one of the title contenders among themselves, with Dynamos, Ngezi Platinum Stars and Chicken all still to come face-to-face. Ngezi and FC Platinum also still have a date and will slug it out. This effectively means that these four sides can take points away from each other between the quartet.

And as the plot thickens it may not all entirely rest on the championship-chasing teams only, since party spoilers who brew upsets may litter their paths as the campaign hots up and meanders towards the business end.

Over the past weeks, Lloyd Mutasa, Tonderai Ndiraya and Norman Mapeza have had contrasting fortunes with their teams; while Rahman Gumbo and his charges have appeared to chicken out of the kitchen, perhaps fearing some grilling, as the heat in the title race got turned on.

As it stands, who wants it the most is likely to get it. Let the spirit of Fair Play prevail for the remainder of this season and may the best or deserving team triumph. So who is going to do just about enough and drag themselves over the line for a podium finish?
It’s Game On, Play On!
