Sorcerers are able to foretell the future or prophesy. They heal people and are highly respected in the society to such a point of being called the ‘the great power of God’ (Acts 8:10)

From the book of Acts of the Apostles we see sorcerers making a lot of money through their sorcery. Sorcerers are able to foretell the future or prophesy. They heal people and are highly respected in the society to such a point of being called the ‘the great power of God’ (Acts 8:10).

They use their powers to control people in the society through bewitchment. This is what Simon the sorcerer did as we can see in Acts 8:9-11:

“But there was a certain man, called Simon, which before time in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries”.

Some people drawing crowds in the cities today that we regard as prophets of God are actually sorcerers practising witchcraft. They bewitch societies and blind the minds of the people fooling them to believe that they are ‘the great power of God’ (Acts 8:10).

Apostle Paul rebuked one such an agent of Satan who was trying to hinder the gospel of salvation from being preached. We see this in Acts 13:9-11 where Elymas the sorcerer withstood Apostle Paul and tried by all means to turn away the deputy of the country from the faith in God.

From Acts 13:9–11 we can deduce this truth about sorcerers (false prophets): They bewitch people through sorcery in-order to convince then to believe that they are the power of God

They practise mind controlling so that people can listen to them They use their powers to gain respect from people in the society They withstand the truth of the gospel and they try by all means to forbid people from receiving the true gospel of Jesus Christ

They try to turn people from the faith of Jesus Christ by causing them to believe false doctrines of demons They are full of subtlety and mischief They are the children of the devil and enemy of all righteousness They do not cease to pervert the right ways of the God

Now does this sound familiar to you? Does this sound to be a description of false prophets mushrooming our cities today? If so, then the people whom we call prophets today are actually sorcerers. I admonish you not to follow sorcerers. Rather, follow Jesus Christ and look up to Him. He is the author and finisher of our faith as the Bible says in Hebrews 12:2.

FALSE PROPHETS AND DOCTRINES OF DEMONS
False prophets are spreading doctrines of demons which are meant to derail people from the faith. Doctrines of demons are simply hyped, extreme or exaggerated teachings drawn from the Bible. Examples of such doctrines of demons include extreme grace, extreme giving, end-time Elijahs and end-time Jesus etcetera.

The Apostle Paul clearly said in 2 Timothy 4:3-4, “The time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myth”.

Teachers of extreme grace do not speak against sin. They do not stand for righteousness and holiness. Extreme grace is a new teaching which emphasizes the grace of God excluding the important part of salvation through repentance and confession of sins.

The preachers of extreme grace teach that all sins, past, present, and future have been forgiven so there is no need for a believer to ever confess them. They teach that when God looks at us He only sees a holy and righteous people. In short the teachers of extreme grace “pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality” (Jude 1:4).

Another dangerous doctrine of demons being spread by false prophets is extreme giving. Under this teaching, false prophets preach against giving tithes as the Bible teaches. This doctrine teaches that if you want anything from God you need to sow a seed to the prophet first in-order to get it. If you need healing it means you need to seed.

If you need deliverance, you need to seed. If you need a miracle, you need to seed. You will not be surprised to go to a church gathering where you will hear the one regarded as the servant of God saying something like this “I just came back from the mountain where I had an encounter with God for 3 days and 3 nights in prayer and fasting. The anointing upon me is so great. Any disease or sickness is going to be healed.

Any problem is going to disappear today”. The next thing you will see the much desperate and expectant congregants being made to sow a seed before being prayed for. Each person will be prayed for according to the amount of money they seed starting from $100, $70, $50, down to $20.

Those not having such money will simply receive cooperate prayer. This is sorcery and witchcraft practiced in broad day light. Our Lord Jesus Christ told us to preach salvation, give healing and deliverance free of charge (Matthew 10:7).

Apostle Paul prophesied about the coming of seducing spirits and doctrines of demons in the last days in 1 Timothy 4:1-2. We need to be forewarned and follow the true teachings of the Word of God. We are in the last days and many false prophets are before us.

Some call themselves end-time Elijahs. Some see themselves as the last prophets anointed to herald the coming of Jesus. Some actually see themselves as Jesus incarnate where salvation is only found through them.

This is Satanism trying to take control of the church. Let’s beware of the doctrines of demons in these last days. Only the Word of God is our guidance.
