False prophets and familiar spirits
FALSE prophets are not used by God. They do not prophesy by the Spirit of God, but they prophesy through familiar spirits and divination. Jeremiah Chapter 14:14 states that:
“Then the LORD said unto me, the prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spoke unto them: they prophesy unto you false a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart”.
Again in Deuteronomy 18:14 we read: “When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.
For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.”
From the scriptures cited above we can see that false prophets are put in the same category in the occult world with witches, wizards, sorcerers, diviners, magicians, necromancers, soothsayers, charmers and consulter’s of familiar spirits.
This is because they all practise divination. Divination is the ability to get hidden knowledge or secrets pertaining to a person or an event through demonic sources such as familiar spirits.
According to Strong’s Concordance, divination derives its name from a Greek word puthon which is believed to be a divining spirit. It is from this Greek word where we get the name python, which is a mythical serpent known to have the spirit of divination under the Greek mythology.
It will not be a surprise to see false prophets having a love of snakes. Such is one of an example of a familiar spirit behind false prophets.
They conjure these familiar spirits as they prophesy.
We are not ignorant of Satan’s devices. I want you to be enlightened so that you cannot fall prey of these false prophets. They use familiar spirits to perform miracles and extort money from desperate people.
False prophets and miracles
Our Lord Jesus Christ warned us to be wary of false prophets and false Christ who will come in the last days performing great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect. We read this from Mathew 24:24-25 which says: “For false Christ and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand.”
The miracles performed by false prophets are mostly for self-glory, not for the glory of God. The miracles are meant to exalt the prophet and his institution. People are made to believe the prophet more than God to such an extent that they will be left ignorant about God except the prophet. The prophet will be seen as the father figure with the ability to mediate between the followers and God.
The followers are made to believe that they cannot reach God or access God on their own besides going through the prophet. The miracles performed by the prophet would qualify his to be regarded as the god-father for the people. This is clear deception of the devil.
False prophets and money
False prophets are just like fortune tellers or diviners; they preach and perform miracles in order to get money from people. They manipulate people through the deception of miracles for them to extort money from them.
The messages preached by these false prophets are mainly focused on material gains or prosperity, rather than building Christ-like character and developing a strong relationship with God. Today, these false prophets are promising people to get healing and deliverance from whatever situation or problem once they give money or seed to them or their ministries.
True healing and deliverance is for free and it comes from the Lord Jesus Christ who died for us on the cross. Jesus paid a debt that we could not pay through His blood and His death on the cross. Salvation is for free in the name of Jesus Christ.
Why should you pay for it? Jesus Himself said in Matthew 10:7, “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give”.
Jesus paid the price for you and me. We cannot pay for it again. Such false prophets or teachers preach against tithing. Their doctrine is that tithing was a Law of Moses and it does not concern the believers today. They teach that tithing was done away with by Jesus Christ.
