A perfect finish

Evangelist Peter Madondo—

The world is awash of the history of people who started so well and only to fizzle out along the way. I cannot help recalling the adage “so near yet so far”.

Ecclesiastes 7:8 says “Better is the end of a thing than the beginning .”.

My question to you is, have you grown a tendency of putting the perfect finish to whatever you touch? Or you are that person who never finishes anything.

The world is awash today with people who had promising idea, careers and aspirations but all those have gone to waste simply because they lacked the tenacity to engineer a perfect finish. Solomon in one of his poetic books pregnant with wisdom reaffirmed that the end is better than the beginning. No matter how beautiful you start, what counts eventually is how you finish.

We have read stories about people who had enormous potential but because they did not craft a perfect finish they remain in the cabinet of a host of failures and losers. I want to challenge you today to be transformed by the renewal of you minds. Focus is one key ingredient to a perfect finish The Hebrew writer in chapter 12 verse 2 says “looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith”.

This particular passage teaches us a discipline that is not found an ordinary person. Focus as defined by the English dictionary is concentration of attention. I am hopeful that upon completing reading this article I would have evoked the inner you to master the discipline on focus.

Adherent Karatekas can ignore excruciating pains while they focus on a particular goal, in the same vein, if we focus on Jesus all the afflictions the world brings upon us will be a story of the past. Imagine the pains that Jesus went through prior to the crucifixion while any man could have sold their birthright under the circumstances, Jesus see himself through because of his focus on what he would achieve upon completion of the mammoth responsibility.

Today it is with a bleeding heart that multitudes have regarded Christianity as difficult religion. Legion of people have since backslidden because of otherwise trivial challenges in life. I hope this article is going to challenge you to be a perfect finisher.

No matter what the obstacles are never quit but endure to the last. Winston Churchill once said in one of his most common speeches: “Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense.”.

It is only wise enough to pluck a leaf from the books of athletes. They train for several years just to accomplish their quest of a perfect finish. 1 Corinthians 9: 24 “know yee not that they which run in a race run all but one receiveth  the prize so run that yee may obtain.”

It is common knowledge that the last laps are the ones that require endurance hence slow start as one positions himself for a strong finish is laudable.

It is better to mess up with the start because a perfect finish will obliterate the fumbled phase. It is however a total contrast to fluffing the finishing because that will go down as the ultimate outcome that defines an individual.Pauls says “I have fought a good fight I have finished my course I have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7) These are the words we expect to hear from you all.

Having undergone some gruesome experiences as alluded by Acts 14:22. It is sensible for one to endure to the finishing line. Even if you fall along the way never make a mistake of exiting the track instead rise up and put a perfect finish to the Christian race.

No matter how skilful you are in cutting garments, it does not count unless perfection is shown to the hem. Diamonds are seemingly useless stones unless a perfect finish is done on them. Let me encourage you to push yourself beyond limit and strive to put up a perfect finish to your life. Remember “BETTER IS THE END OF A THING THAN THE BEGINNING”

Never take for granted the words of Jesus as he hung on the cross, having conquered all the pains he said: “It is finished”. Let us be challenged by the master and be accomplishers.

Irrespective of the deep wounds and scars, we must declare at one point that it is finished thus summing up a perfect finish.
