MUTARE City Rovers’ coach Kenny ‘‘Bokande’’ Kachara’s five-match unbeaten run will come under another severe test when his team squares up against log leaders Eastern Stars at Rudhaka Stadium in Marondera tomorrow (Saturday).
Kachara’s men proved their mettle when they dismissed a spirited Dongo 2-1 at Sakubva Stadium last Saturday in yet another test of character for City Rovers.
Just like last Saturday, all eyes will be on Kachara, who has now won all the five matches he has been in charge of when he bounced back as the City Rovers’ coach after the Mutare Municipality side sacked Joseph Takaringa about five weeks ago.
A win for Kachara and his men tomorrow at Rudhaka will certainly take them to pole position on the log standings, something that Eastern Stars would not want to happen.
Kachara said he will take each game as it comes.
“We will approach each match with the same mentality of aiming for the best. We are aware that Eastern Stars are a good side, but we cannot stop preparing for the best simply because they are a good side. We will do our best to get what we want. We know it will not be easy, but we will give it our best shot. After the win against Dongo, morale is high in our camp and I hope we will carry on from where we left,” he said.
The results are justifying the decision to wield the axe on Takaringofa after Magusha, as City Rovers are affectionately referred to, went on to beat Gaza Gunners 3-1 before edging troublesome Surrey 1-0.
Rovers then thumped hapless Chivhu Stars 7-1 and last weekend Kachara, once again, barked instructions from the touchline as Rovers handed ZRP Masvingo a 6-2 drubbing. He then went on to give good reason for his return with a 2-1 triumph over Dongo to make it five out of five.
