A MANHUNT has been launched for a 30-year-old man from Rusape who enticed a 13-year-old girl with $1 and allegedly raped her twice for turning down his love proposal.
Simon Mashonjowa vanished soon after sexually abusing the girl and ordered her not to reveal it to anyone. The incidents happened sometime in December in Jakata Village under Chief Makoni in Rusape.

Deputy Manicaland provincial police spokesman Assistant Inspector Luxson Chananda appealed to anyone with information leading to the arrest of Mashonjowa to contact their nearest police station.

He said sometime in December last year, the teenager met Mashonjowa on her way to the grinding mill at Ngorima Business Centre.
“Simon proposed love to the girl, but she turned him down. He gave her $1 which the girl took before she proceeded on her journey. On her way back, a few hours later, Mashonjowa met the girl again and ordered her to put down the sack she was carrying. He allegedly dragged her into a nearby bush and deflowered her,” said Asst Insp Chananda.

He ordered the teenager not to reveal the rape to anyone. He raped her again, during the same month and the girl did not tell anyone.
Her grandmother later discovered some pimples on her privates. Upon being quizzed, the girl divulged that she was raped on two occasions by Mashonjowa.

“We have since launched a manhunt for the suspect and anyone with information leading to his arrest should contact the nearest police station,” he said.
